Welcome
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming.
You may feel anxious, stuck in your thoughts, or unsure where to turn.
Perhaps you are carrying pressures from school, relationships, family, or expectations and it can feel exhausting to hold everything together.
Counselling offers a calm and confidential space where you can pause, reflect, and begin to understand yourself more deeply.
Welcome to Therapeia Counselling, a supportive space for young people and adults seeking understanding, clarity and emotional balance.
I work with young people and adults who may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, or uncertainty about their direction in life.
With over 30 years of experience working in education and pastoral care, I have a deep understanding of the pressures many young people face today, from academic expectations to friendships, identity, confidence, and the transition to university or adulthood.
Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Counselling for Young People and Young Adults
Feeling overwhelmed?
Being a young person can feel intense and confusing. Anxiety, stress, low confidence, friendship or relationship difficulties, and life transitions can build up quickly.
I work with young people aged 11–25, supporting them through school, sixth form, university, and early adulthood.
At Worksop College – I provide counselling to students aged 11–18 as an approved therapy provider.
Private practice – I work with young people aged 15–25, both in Nottingham and online across the UK.
Whether you’re at school, college, university, or starting your first job, counselling provides a safe, confidential space to explore your feelings, develop coping strategies, and build confidence and resilience.
How Counselling Can Help
Many of the young people I work with experience:
- Anxiety and overthinking
- Exam or school/college stress
- Low self-esteem or lack of confidence
- Friendship or relationship difficulties
- Life transitions and identity questions
I work at your pace, and help you find your own voice, strengths, and confidence. You don’t have to carry it all on your own.
For Parents
If you’re a parent worried about your child’s emotional wellbeing, I can provide support while respecting confidentiality. I work with young people in school and in private practice, helping families navigate anxiety, confidence, and life transitions.

'Therapy makes room for the unspeakable'
Counselling for Adults
I know what it is like to live with anxiety and depression: the days that feel heavy, the overthinking, the shame of not being able to just 'get on with it'. I bring lived experience and professional training to the room which means I will meet you with compassion and curiosity. During our first session, we’ll talk about what brought you here, what you hope to get from counselling, and together decide a pace that feels right for you.
I offer a calm and focused space for those facing anxiety, depression and life transitions, whether that's changes in relationships, family, work, health or identity. I draw on an integrative, relational approach: the relationship between us is the primary source of healing, and I blend that with practical tools so you leave sessions feeling steadier and more able to cope.
If this feels like the kind of support you need, you're welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation. We'll go from there.

Counselling support
How I work
As an integrative counsellor, I can support you with a variety of therapeutic approaches to help you cope with stress and promote your mental well-being. Together, we explore what is holding you back and develop strategies to help you feel heard, understood and empowered.
Typical ways I work:
Psychoeducation about how the nervous system and emotional regulation work, using simple explanation.
Grounding and breathwork to stabilise the body when overwhelm arrives.
Emotion regulation skills using polyvagal informed approaches.
Reflective exploration to make sense of patterns rooted in the past.
Creative approaches may be used where helpful, such as imagery, metaphor or art-based exploration, to access feelings safely.
