How your counselling journey begins
When you first get in touch, we’ll have a 20-minute WhatsApp voice or video call. It’s a short, informal chat where you can share what’s brought you to counselling and ask any questions. There’s no pressure; it’s normal to feel nervous, and just reaching out is a brave first step. The call also gives you a chance to see if I feel like the right person to support you. To book your first call, just send me an email and we’ll find a time that works for both of us.
If it feels like a good fit, we can then arrange full sessions at times and a frequency that suit both your needs and my availability, giving you a safe, supportive space to work on your goals at your own pace. This first step is simply about exploring your options and seeing what feels comfortable.

If you are here then you have taken the first step, which takes courage.
The counselling service
With over 30 years’ experience in education, including many years as a teacher, tutor and houseparent, I have spent much of my career supporting young people not only with their studies but also with their wellbeing and personal growth. Working daily with students in a pastoral role gave me a deep understanding of the challenges young people face, from friendships and family dynamics to the pressures of school life, and the importance of having someone they can trust to turn to for support.
This experience now shapes my work as an integrative counsellor, offering counselling for young people, young adults, and adults. Alongside my professional training, I draw on my pastoral background and my own experiences of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and autism to provide a compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming approach.
I support clients of all ages with anxiety, depression, low confidence, and difficulties linked to earlier life experiences or transitions, helping them develop resilience, self-trust, and confidence. I provide counselling in Nottingham and online sessions across the UK, creating a safe and understanding space where clients can take their next step toward emotional wellbeing.
Anxiety and Depression
Many people seek counselling when they are struggling with feelings of anxiety or depression. You may be experiencing worry, low mood, loss of interest in things you once enjoyed, or difficulty coping with everyday life. In our work together, you will have a safe, confidential space to explore these feelings and begin to understand them. Counselling can help you develop strategies to manage overwhelming thoughts and emotions, while also giving you the support to rediscover hope and strength.
Integrative Approach
I work using an integrative approach, which means I draw on different counselling methods to suit your individual needs. Rather than following a single model, I adapt my approach depending on what feels most helpful for you.
This might involve gently exploring how past experiences continue to shape you, finding practical ways to manage anxiety or difficult thoughts, or focusing on present challenges and future goals. We work collaboratively, at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
Online Counselling
I offer counselling sessions online using a secure video platform. Many people find online therapy flexible and convenient, as it allows you to access support from the comfort of your own home. Online sessions are held in the same way as in-person sessions, offering a safe and confidential space to talk. Research shows that online counselling can be just as effective as face-to-face work, making it a practical option if travel and time are concerns.
In Person Counselling
I offer in-person counselling sessions on Tuesdays at the Willow Hub, Worksop College. The service is open to all students and staff and accessed easily through the College’s self-referral system. All sessions are confidential, in a private setting away from the busyness of school life. Sessions are available online during the holidays.
In-person sessions are also available on Mondays, at the Nottingham Park Clinic, for young people and adults.
Sessions
Each session lasts 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, though we can discuss the frequency which works best for you. Our first meeting will be an opportunity to explore what brings you to counselling. Some clients choose short-term counselling focused on specific issues, while others prefer long-term support. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Agreement and Fees
Sessions are charged at £70 each, payable by bank transfer ahead of each appointment. Block bookings are available. At the start of our work together, you will receive a counselling agreement outlining clear expectations and boundaries, so that you know what to expect from the process.
